Teaching Systems Thinking Through Game Design

This summer Future Local was selected to participate in the Metabronx Technology Incubator. We were one of ten startup mentors working with a hundred high school students from local schools such as Comp Sci High and DREAM Charter School for six weeks-- completely virtually and with technical challenges such as access to WiFi, software, computers, and quiet working space.

Future Local worked closely with ten interns to work collaboratively to overcome these challenges and learn different methods and tools for Systems Thinking. We brainstormed creative ideas for narrative and systems-based games, and came up with strategies to use open source tools like Instagram and Giphy Arcade to create prototypes and get feedback from playtesters.
